Which tox is yours?

Five toxins. One of them is yours.

Rio Glow stocks Botox, Xeomin, Daxxify, Dysport and Letybo. They are not the same product with different labels — they are genuinely different molecules with different lifespans. This finds the one that matches how often you actually want to sit in the chair.

Worth knowing before you compare prices anywhere

A unit is not a unit.

This is the single most useful thing to understand about neurotoxin, and almost nobody explains it.

Every brand is measured in "units", but a unit is a measure of that specific product's potency — not a standard quantity you can compare across brands. Dysport in particular uses a different scale entirely, so a Dysport treatment takes noticeably more units than a Botox one to do the same job. Comparing a per-unit price between two different brands is like comparing a price per cup to a price per litre and concluding one shop is cheaper.

What to ask instead

"What will this area cost me, all in?" That question has one answer and it is comparable everywhere. "What is your price per unit?" does not.

And how all five actually work

Identically, underneath. Botulinum toxin type A blocks the signal a nerve sends to a muscle — it prevents the release of acetylcholine at the junction between them by cleaving one of the proteins that machinery depends on. No signal, no contraction. No contraction, no crease forming in the skin above it.

Which is why none of them work instantly. The nerve terminal has to be affected and the muscle has to stop pulling. Onset is usually around day three; full effect lands around day fourteen. Every difference between the five brands — how long they last, how far they spread, how likely your body is to learn to neutralise them — comes down to what is packaged around that molecule.
